Hello Walnuts

Yet another bonus to living in New Zealand is all the stuff that grows in your garden.

Walnuts and Hydrangeas from the garden

And if it doesn’t grow in your garden, it’ll likely grow in your neighbour’s or work colleague’s and they’ll insist on giving it to you.

In no particular order, this is what I’ve been given since I moved to New Zealand 2 months ago.

  • 1 chicken (dead)
  • 1 chicken (alive)
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Chillis
  • Lemons (so many lemons)
  • Limes
  • Walnuts
  • Avocados
  • A goat
  • 2 silver butter knives
  • A tomato fork (who knew?)
  • Eggs
  • Several fish
  • A tweed jacket
  • An antique push lawn mower circa 1920.

Just some of the stuff I’ve been given
  • Basil
  • Garlic

  • More lemons
  • Bottles of wine
  • Several Glass Cloches and jars
